Las Vegas Marketer Takes Topeka Kansas By Storm!
Right now I'm recovering from my performace as Elvis Presley last night in Topeka Kansas.
Even after weeks of rehersal in Las Vegas and rigorous exercize regime I put myself through my body aches from shaking legs and gyrating my pelvis to be Elvis.
I should have blogged about this event prior to now but with so much on my plate it just didn't happen.
For all the years I've been marketing online I've never shared with many people my secret life as an Elvis Presley tribute artist.
Yep...Jim in Vegas does an Elvis act. I've been a fan from as far back as I remember...about the second grade or around 1971 or 1972.
For years I've performed all kinds of music and a short tribute to the greatest solo performer, and biggest legend in music history.
My friend, Mark Maynard also from Las Vegas, who recreates the voice and music of Franki Valli joined me at the event yesterday.
I did not assist much with the marketing of the event as I wanted to mainly focus on my performace.
As much as I would like to say the show went great without a hitch I can't but the show must go on and it did.
Because of tardiness of our sound man and various schedule issues we were not able to do a proper sound check before Mark and I did our shows.
As a performer we depend on and need to be confident that our sound is right so that was the first issue we had.
Fortunately we were able to overlook this as the event coordinator, Harold Bernhardt, has us flown into the event via helicopter where we were greeted by a large crowd of folks from the Topeka area.
I'll post a follow up to this and hope to have some video of the event and my performance to share with you soon.
Much of this Classic Car Show & Rock & Roll Music Fest was captured on video.
There were many great people at this event that pulled this whole benefit together.
As always it's the people behind the scene who make it all happen while us performers get to experience all the glamor.
I think I'll end up posting more on this over at my MySpace profile as it is more suited there than here on my marketing blog.
More to come...I'm back to Las Vegas on Monday, tomorrow, today I'll spend visiting with family and friends in Topeka.
